A Great Love of Singing

One night at a meeting of the Harrismith Dramatic Society, Mary spotted a new face. ‘Who are you?’ she asked. And ‘Can you sing?’ fully expecting the usual modest denial. To her surprise, Trudi Els said Yes! and at the next meeting everyone present agreed she certainly could – and beautifully!

That was the start of a great friendship and lots of singing together, sometimes with Mom playing the piano.

Regular trio Mary, Trudi Els and Esther Uys sang “Because” at ____’s sister’s wedding in the Kerkenberg church hall. Probably the 1940 Arthur Hammerstein song Because Of You?
